Cardio-Respiratory
Cardio-respiratory is a specialized area in the hospital that focuses on diagnosing, monitoring and treating conditions related to the heart (cardio) and the lungs (respiratory) - two vital systems that work together to supply oxygen to the body and remove carbon dioxide.
Cardio-respiratory professionals, including respiratory therapists (RTs) and cardiovascular technologists (CVTs), play a crucial role in assessing, monitoring, and treating conditions that affect breathing and heart function. They help patients with asthma, COPD, heart disease, and those recovering from surgery or trauma. These professionals perform diagnostic tests like ECGs, stress tests, home oxygen assessments or pulmonary function tests, manage ventilators, and provide life-saving interventions in emergency situations.
At Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, we perform a variety of different cardio-respiratory tests to support the health and wellbeing of our community. Please see below for more information on each type of test we provide.
