CGMH expands ED Fast Track Services
Prebook arrival times for minor lacerations, UTI’s, skin infections and rashes
Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is expanding its ED Fast Track program to offer more services and additional appointment times. Starting Wednesday, May 29, you can now prebook emergency department (ED) arrival times for minor lacerations, urinary tract infections (UTI’s), skin infections and rashes, in addition to minor fractures, coughs, colds and flu.
To better serve the community, CGMH has also added new afternoon slots. Patients can now prebook afternoon arrival times between 1:30 - 2:00 p.m., in addition to the eight morning slots available Monday to Friday between 8:00 - 9:45 a.m.
“By expanding these services and appointment times, we continue to provide timely access to care for minor conditions, while freeing up space within the ED for more critical cases, helping to prevent overcrowding,” says Dr. Greg Devet, CGMH Chief of Emergency Medicine.
Booking your arrival time is easy! Appointments can be scheduled on CGMH’s website under the emergency department tab. There, you will answer a few questions about your symptoms and injury. If you meet the criteria, you can book an arrival time. However, should the time slots be full, anyone who is experiencing a health emergency should continue to the emergency department.
The ED Fast Track program began in November 2023 as part of a pilot project designed to tackle wait times in an innovative and patient-centred way. As the program evolves, CGMH will continue to explore ways of adapting and expanding services to meet our community’s needs.
