CGMH is an acute care hospital providing emergency care, diagnostic services including lab, imaging and cardio respiratory therapy, as well as two inpatient units (medicine and surgery). The Opportunity:
Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver psychiatric emergency services, crisis intervention and stabilization care in accordance with the hospital philosophy, competency guidelines and the standards of practice as per designated college. The Crisis Worker is responsible for responding to crisis/emergency situations of patients presenting in the Emergency Department and patients referred for internal psychiatric consultation within Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. Using a crisis intervention model, the Crisis Worker will conduct a comprehensive psychiatric assessment of the patient and an in-depth risk assessment. Working within the interdisciplinary team, the Crisis Worker will contribute to the patient care plan, referral and/or discharge plan in partnership with the patient, caregiver/family and appropriate community services.
Qualifications:
• Current Certificate of Registration with Regulated Health Profession
• University Degree in Social Work, Nursing or Occupational Therapy
• Current BCLS certification
• Recent experience (within the last 5 years) in acute mental health sector.
• Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act of Ontario
• Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification required
• Demonstrated experience with crisis intervention techniques and theory-based practice in working with the seriously mentally ill.
• Demonstrated knowledge on risk assessments, suicide prevention.
• Knowledge and/or experience with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders
• Knowledge of community resources available to patients with psychosocial, psychiatric, and chemical dependence needs
• Proficient computer skills
• Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family centred care environment
• Demonstrated excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently
• Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
• Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.

• Must be dedicated to professional growth & development
• Must be able to perform all bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
• Must have demonstrated excellent attendance/performance record
• Excellent organization and prioritization skills
• Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the health care team
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assesses, records and reports the health status of assigned patient to identify and document patient status
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, community partners, and the patient and caregiver/family to develop and modify a patient care plan, including the flow of care, to address the assessed needs of the individual
• Provides client centered care by performing therapeutic interventions

Hours of Work: 12 hour shifts (1000 to 2200).
Please be reminded that as a Hospital, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work week days and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.
Wage: $39.04 - $48.02 per hour

This position also includes 8% vacation pay and 14% pay in lieu of benefits as well as access to
