Shannan Saunders

Director, Emergency Preparedness and Support Services


Shannan Saunders joined CGMH as the Director, Emergency Preparedness and Support Services in 2024. 

Shannan brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the Emergency Management field and joins CGMH from the Mount Sinai Health System in New York. Since April 2020, Shannan has overseen all emergency preparedness and response activities for the Morningside site, as the Site Director, Emergency Management. Prior to this position, Shannan held various roles in the Emergency Management field including the Manager, Emergency Management at Durham College in Oshawa, and Senior Policy Advisor, Business Continuity and Emergency Management with the Ministry of the Attorney General.

In addition, Shannan spent twenty years as a primary care paramedic and paramedic supervisor, providing quality emergency medical services at major sporting and entertainment events in some of Toronto’s largest venues including the Rogers Centre stadium for the Toronto Blue Jays. Complimenting Shannan’s vast experience, she holds a Master of Arts in Disaster and Emergency Management and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Business Administration.
