Michael Thompson joined the CGMH Board of Directors in 2021 and is Chair of both the Governance and Quality Committees of the Board.

Prior to retirement, Michael was a partner with Ernst & Young. He began his career as a commercial litigator with a downtown Toronto law firm, before moving to Ernst & Young (Canada), as its General Counsel. In 2003 Michael moved to an international role with the company, where, as a member of its Global Risk Committee, Michael helped support Ernst & Young's global risk management framework implementation, was responsible for the company's global insurance programs and helped oversee Ernst & Young's responses to reputational and legal challenges around the globe.

Since retiring, Michael has taken on a board role in the insurance industry, as well as becoming significantly involved in providing legal, risk and quality management support to two global, not for profit organizations.

Michael holds a Law Degree from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the University of Toronto. Michael is also a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D), having completed the Directors Education program at the Rotman School of Management.

Michael and his family have been a part of the Collingwood/Blue Mountains community for over 25 years, have been homeowners for the last nine of those years.

Michael resides in the Town of The Blue Mountains.
