In-Hospital Masking Returns for patients and visitors

decorative image

CGMH has implemented changes to its in-hospital masking protocols in alignment with other Central Region Hospital partners, as respiratory illness is on the rise. It’s anticipated these changes will remain in place until the spring.

At this time, CGMH has implemented mandatory masking for all CGMH Team members, patients, visitors, vendors/contractors and volunteers in:

  • Patient waiting rooms
  • Designated waiting areas (e.g., hallway spaces)
  • Patient treatment/exam rooms
  • Inpatient rooms

Level 1 masks are available at the front entrance of the hospital and the emergency department, in addition to various areas in the hospital. Kindly sanitize your hands prior to taking a mask and wear for the duration of your visit, in the above listed areas.

Complete visitor details are available under the Visitor's page on CGMH.ON.CA, however no more than two visitors at a time are permitted within inpatient rooms. Special consideration may be provided for patients that are palliative/end of life, in consultation with their Care Team.

Outbreaks will restrict visitors on a unit to patients imminent of passing or essential caregivers, which have been approved by the Department Manager or Resource Nurse.

Patients in the Emergency Department are to have no more than one visitor at a time.
