CGMH Rolls back Visitor Policy to Phase 2a Effective Monday, December 13
Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is rolling back its designated visitor policy to Phase 2a, from Phase 3 on Monday, December 13 at 8:00 a.m. to further protect its patients, employees and physicians. This follows the implementation of proof of vaccination for designated visitors, which was first introduced December 1, 2021
At this time, all designated visitors 12 and older must show proof of vaccination and photo identification to enter the hospital. Negative rapid antigen or PCR tests will not be accepted as a substitute for proof of vaccination.
Under phase 2a fully vaccinated designated visitors will be permitted at one visitor per patient for:
- End of life including MAID and stillbirth
- Childbirth
- Major surgery
- Critical illness/life altering diagnosis
- Significant developmental, intellectual disability/cognitive impairment/unable to effectively communicate
- Patient requiring caregiver to support hospital workflow
- Long stay patients
- Emergency department patients (must meet one of the above criteria)
Full vaccinated designated visitors are currently permitted for the following at two visitors daily per patient:
- Patients under the age of 18
"At this time, moving to Phase 2a of the hospital's Designated Visitor Policy is necessary to maintain a safe workplace for all employees and to keep our patients safe," says Lauren Tindall, VP Patient Experience.
