CGMH is beginning the gradual resumption of elective and non-urgent procedures and surgeries

February 14th, 2022

Collingwood General & Marine Hospital (CGMH) is beginning the gradual resumption of elective and non-urgent procedures and surgeries, as directed by the Ontario government on February 10.

CGMH is continuing to move forward with a gradual, cautious, and balanced approach of the resumption of non-emergent and non-urgent surgeries and procedures over the coming weeks. Careful resumption of activities in targeted areas must ensure inpatient capacity and health human resources are not impacted.

The resumption of elective and non-urgent procedures and surgeries at CGMH, will be a phased, gradual approach as the hospital works through the current backlog. CGMH and local surgeon's offices will notify patients as quickly as possible, as appointments become available.

Ontario Health will continue to monitor many factors as the ramp up occurs such as the intensity of community transmission, medical/surgical hospital capacity, ICU capacity and health human resources capacity, and hospitals must be able to meet certain criteria, in order for non-urgent procedures and surgeries to continue.
