CGMH Board of Directors Appoints Michael Lacroix to Interim President & CEO At CGMH
The Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Lacroix, current CGMH Vice President, Corporate Services, and CFO to the interim role of President and Chief Executive Officer at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH), effective April 15, 2022.
With the upcoming retirement of Norah Holder from the President and CEO role on May 15, 2022, the CGMH Board is committed to maintaining high quality, safe patient care, and strong and focused leadership to continue to advance the hospital forward through its many ongoing projects and strategic priorities on a temporary basis. The recruitment process will continue over the coming months to fill the role on a permanent basis.
Michael has more than 18 years' experience in the health care sector and is currently in his 10th year serving as part of the hospital's Senior Leadership Team at CGMH. Michael is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Master of Health Science degree from the University of Toronto, and an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Brock University. Michael is LEAN Green Belt certified and also holds a Certified Health Executive designation from the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
"Michael brings a familiarity and many years of experience within the organization to help him lead GGMH on an interim basis. He is already a well-respected member of the Senior Leadership Team and lives the CGMH mission, vision and values every day. Michael's leadership on the hospital's redevelopment project, as well as his ability to successfully manage the hospital's finances, especially during the pandemic, make him well-suited to bridge the leadership gap during the Board's recruitment process. The Board of Directors looks forward to working with Michael in his temporary role," says Ms. Lesley Paul, CGMH Board Chair.
During Michael's time at CGMH he has provided strong and focused leadership on the following key initiatives:
- Led the successful Stage 1 hospital development planning submission, which has resulted in a $15M planning grant to continue CGMH's journey to modernize and expand the hospital.
- Led the financial turnaround of the hospital during a time of significant funding change and restraint, with CGMH continuing to be one of the most efficient hospitals in Ontario.
"I am truly excited about this opportunity and to work alongside the Board and Leadership Teams to continue the great work that is currently underway, on an interim basis. Although CGMH continues to work through COVID-19 pandemic challenges, we remain committed to advancing community health through compassionate, innovative, and collaborative care. I am fortunate to have worked alongside current CEO Norah Holder for the past 10 years and have learned a tremendous amount from her," says Mr. Michael Lacroix.
The hospital will be working with a recruitment agency to temporarily backfill Michael Lacroix's current position of Vice President, Corporate Services and CFO.
