CGMH is a Smoke Free Environment as of May 31, 2008. The smoke free environment includes all buildings and grounds.
In keeping with the goal to build strong community relationships and further our community of caring, the CGMH has strengthened its commitment to the health of patients, visitors, staff, physicians, volunteers and caregivers. Beginning on World No-Tobacco Day, Saturday, May 31st, 2008, the Hospital no longer allows smoking on hospital property. Property boundaries are recognized as a sidewalk bordering the hospital property edge, or beyond a fence bordering hospital property, or beyond the entrance/exit gates to designated hospital parking areas. Visitors, physicians, staff, volunteers and patients who choose to smoke are required to go off hospital property in order to do so.
As a health care organization, CGMH is committed to promoting the health and well being of caregivers, volunteers and the people whom we serve, and it is important that we model healthy practices. The Smoke Free Policy is intended to provide protection from tobacco smoke and to set a positive example in the community.
CGMH is a scent free facility
No scents is good sense
Please do not wear perfume, scented hairspray, cologne, scented deodorant, aftershave or other scented products.
Scented products can contain chemicals that can cause serious problems for many people, especially those with asthma, allergies and environmental illness.
Additionally, CGMH also requests that no lilies be brought into the hospital, due to severe sensitivities and allergies.
In consultation with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU), an RSV outbreak has been declared on CGMH’s Medical Unit.
CGMH understands that visitors are an important part of the healing process. At this time, patients may have one visitor at a time.
Visitors are asked to:
Adhere to the hospital's PPE guidelines.
Practice proper hand hygiene.
Wear a mask for the duration of your visit.
CGMH appreciates the community’s cooperation as we work to protect
