CGMH is a 70-bed facility serving more than 60,000 permanent residents and 3.5 million annual visitors to the communities of Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Clearview and the Blue Mountains. CGMH is an acute care hospital providing emergency care, diagnostic services including lab, imaging and cardio respiratory therapy, as well as two inpatient units (medicine and surgery). The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Vice President Clinical Support Services, Chief Risk Officer, the Quality & Innovation Coordinator works collaboratively with the CGMH Leadership Team and Department Chiefs to advance quality and innovation at CGMH. The Quality & Innovation Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management of quality including the oversight, development, implementation, and evaluation of projects including Accreditation and the QIP and P4R initiatives at CGMH.

Qualifications:

  • College/University education required, minimum of bachelor degree in related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Acute Care Leadership experience with knowledge of Emergency Department and Quality/Risk project management considered an asset.
  • Understanding of/experience with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, HQO, Cancer Care Ontario, the LHIN, Accreditation Canada, and hospital partnerships preferred
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including development and monitoring of budgets, schedules and work plans/work breakdown structures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of change management in a hospital setting utilizing quality improvement strategies and tools including LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Outstanding organizational skills including priority setting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated work in a team environment while maintaining leadership and engagement focus
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated computer skills, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be dedicated to professional growth & development
  • Must be able to perform all bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with stakeholders including the leadership and clinical teams, identify opportunities to improve patient experience, patient flow, work flow, and work experience with focus on quality initiatives.
  • Manages the day-to-day activities associated with the implementation of projects including liaison with hospital stakeholders, physicians, external health partners including Accreditation Canada and community stakeholder groups to ensure projects remain within developed project parameters.
  • Engages the organization in front-line lead quality and innovative initiatives building the organizational capacity for change and change management. Working under own initiative to drive project processes, including development of change and lead and communicate plan as required, while displaying energy and enthusiasm within the role and deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Facilitates logistics and implementation of quality initiatives and innovation.
  • Acts as the primary liaison, through multiple communication venues, between stakeholders to ensure objectives are met throughout assigned projects.
  • Participates in patient safety and risk initiatives and takes action to address unsafe conditions and procedures to ensure a healthy and safe environment.
  • Actively contributes within the scope of the position to the enhancement of the patient experience through continuous improvement, learning, and teamwork, with the goal of creating an environment that is caring, inclusive, respectful, patient and family-centred with a focus on excellence, innovation and safety.
  • Works in compliance with Infection Control standards, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions in a timely manner.
  • Actively participates in the Hospital's Health and Safety Internal Responsibility System, which includes maintaining accountability for the defined responsibilities listed in applicable legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Ensures updates are planned and executed efficiently, effectively, and according to schedule.

Hours of Work: Mon - Fri, 37.5 hours per week. Please be reminded that as a Hospital, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work week days and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.

Wage: $76,137.23 - $93,639.18 per annum
